Frequently Asked Questions regarding MA in Economics
- MA economics is a rigorous course in Economics offered by TU (see a detailed course of study attached below).
- Students from Management backgrounds (with Economics and Mathematics), Humanities (Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics), Education (Economics, Mathematics), Science, and Engineering backgrounds are eligible.
- Students must fill up forms from the respective college where they intend to join.
- Students must appear entrance exam.
- The entrance examination is of 50 marks with microeconomics, macroeconomics, and mathematics of 15 marks each and general knowledge of 5 marks.
- Bachelor's level (BBA or BBS or BA) microeconomics, macroeconomics, and mathematics are sufficient for entrance examinations.
- Students must admit to the College from where they registered for entrance.
- MA Economics is a 4-semester program of 60 credit hours.
- The University campus (central department) conducts only the day shift from 11 am to 4 pm, while all other colleges provide morning or evening shifts.
- RR campus has started offering online classes in the evening shift. However, students enrolled in online courses are not allowed to join physical classes.
- The fee ranges from Rs.45,000 to Rs.65000 in public colleges as of the academic year 2022.
- There are elective (choice) subjects in the 3rd and 4th semesters (see Syllabus).
- A total of 19 colleges, affiliated with TU, offer the MA Economics program in Nepal.
